Fast forward to present day, Gates discovers a crucial clue hidden on a family heirloom, suggesting that his ancestor, Thomas Gates, was involved in the conspiracy to assassinate Lincoln. Determined to clear his family's name, Gates sets out to find the long-lost Book of Secrets, rumored to contain the nation's biggest secrets.

Joined by his loyal friends and fellow treasure hunters, Riley Poole (played by Justin Bartha) and Abigail Chase (played by Diane Kruger), Gates embarks on a global adventure filled with puzzles, riddles, and historical secrets. Their quest takes them from the mysterious catacombs of Paris to the legendary City of Gold in South America.
